What your vault could look like

This page uses made-up example data to give you an overview of what to expect before creating an account.

Every name, account, and piece of content on this page is fictional. In your real vault, title, category, legacy contact assignment and content are all encrypted client-side together before any of it reaches our servers — which is why a locked vault shows nothing at all — details on the data structure page.

More than a vault: personal words, even without access

Not everyone you still want to say something to should or needs to have access to your vault. That is what the personal message is for: an email to someone who needs no account and sees no vault entries — just words. It is delivered once the legacy case has been established, and without one nothing goes out.

For Sarah

Dear Sarah, you’ve been like a sister to me since our first semester. Thank you for every time you just showed up, without me having to ask. Take care of yourself.

Trigger: Sent by email once your passing has been confirmed

What I’m proud of

Jonas, I saw it in you from your very first year as an apprentice — and I was right about you from the start. You’re going to go far. Never forget that someone believed in you from day one.

Thank you, dear neighbor

20 years living next door to each other, and you were there for us more often than some relatives. The kids know how much you mean to them. Please stay in their lives.

Not just right after — also for later milestones

Some words should not arrive right away but only when they are needed — when a child comes of age, say. A message with a fixed date waits for that day. If the day arrives without a legacy case, it is not sent but lapses, and you are notified.

For you, on your 18th birthday

My dear Anna, if you’re reading this, you’re turning 18 today — and I’m not here to tell you in person: I am unbelievably proud of the woman you’ve become. Celebrate today for both of us.

Trigger: Scheduled for delivery on Anna’s 18th birthday — even years after the loss

One exception: messages to recipients

Unlike your vault entries, personal messages are not readable by you alone. They are delivered later as email — at a point when you can no longer take part. That requires the key to sit on our server. Technically we could read these messages. We do not, but "we cannot" would be a lie here. For everything else in the vault — credentials, documents, files — it still holds without qualification.
